Law on civil service to take effect in 2016

The Verkhovna Rada has postponed the entry into force of the law of Ukraine on civil service until January 1, 2016.
A total of 268 deputies voted for this decision on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
According to Radical Party leader Oleh Liashko, the entry into force of this law will require additional state funds to increase the salaries of civil servants.
“Spending on the implementation of this law will reach UAH 37 billion in 2015… It is absolutely untimely,” he said.
Liashko said that currently civil servants really need an increase in wages. However, he noted that it should be done not at the expense of additional state budget costs, but “by reducing the government apparatus.”
