Lavrov on NATO expansion: Russia to reflect ”all risks and threats to national security”

The Russian side will take all necessary steps ”to parry the risks and threats to the national security,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Hungarian newspaper Magyar Nemzet on the eve of his visit to Budapest, according to TASS.
”We cannot ignore the growing negative trends, folding as a result of NATO policy of deliberate undermining of the strategic balance of forces in Europe, including the strengthening of NATO`s military capabilities near the Russian border, the creation of the European segment of the U.S. global missile defense system.” ”Such actions cannot be named anything but destabilizing and short-sighted,” Lavrov said, commenting on the increase in NATO`s presence in Central Europe.
”In this context, the Russian side will take all necessary steps to parry the risks and threats to our national security,” he said.
