Latvia ready to discuss return of EUR 50 mln seized from Yanukovych team accounts – PGO

Latvia`s Prosecutor General`s said he was ready to discuss possibilities of a return or allocation of funds confiscated from the accounts of Viktor Yanukovych team, deputy head of the PGO of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin has told 112 TV channel.

The Latvian side confirmed that the money is Ukraine-related. For the negotiations to started, Ukraine must clarify the origin of the assets and prove that it has been derived from criminal activities.

Latvia`s prosecutors have assured their Ukrainian colleagues they were ready for cooperation, in order to establish affiliation to former Ukrainian officials of companies and accounts in question.

On September 13, a Latvian court seized EUR 50 million in favor of the state in the case of embezzlement of the state budget of Ukraine and legalization of funds through Latvian banks.
