Svyatoshinskiy District Court in Kyiv has the technical capability to question former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and the former commander of the troops of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry Stanislav Shulyak via a video conference in a case of five Berkut riot police officers, Serhiy Diachuk, the presiding judge in the case of Berkut officers, said at the beginning of the court session, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
The judge emphasized that the Rostov court also confirmed Yanukovych and Shulyak were ready to be questioned via a video conference.
According to the judge, Svyatoshinskiy district court has the equipment required to conduct questioning via a video conference.
”The court confirmed this, and tests of a video conference equipment was held yesterday. During the next court session, on November 24, the issue of changing the order of examination of evidence in connection with this information will be decided,” the judge said.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Yanukovych`s lawyer Vitaliy Serdiuk said that Viktor Yanukovych had been expected to testify via a video conference in a criminal case of the five former Berkut riot police officers on November 25.
According to the lawyer, Sviatoshynskiy district court in the city of Kyiv earlier obtained an approval from the Russian side to set up a video interrogation online. Now it is up to the court to prepare the equipment required for a video conference.
