Klimkin discusses talks in Astana with foreign ministers of Russia, Germany and France

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has discussed with Russian, German and French Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Laurent Fabius the negotiations on the settlement of the situation in Donbas, which are scheduled for January 15 in Astana.
Klimkin wrote this on his Twitter page on January 2.
“I have informed [Ukrainian President Petro] Poroshenko about by telephone conversation with the ministers in the Normandy format. All support the effective implementation of the Minsk agreements. We are preparing [for the meeting in] Astana,” he wrote.
According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the ministers stressed the need for the rapid convening of the next meeting of the contact group on Donbas.
“The sides continued to discuss ways of promoting the peaceful settlement of the situation in southeastern Ukraine, including in the framework of the Minsk agreements,” reads the statement.
It notes that in this regard, “the sides underlined the need for the rapid convening of the next meeting of the contact group.”
The schedule of further consultations in the Normandy format at different levels was also discussed.
