Justice minister: EU will not lift sanctions against Yanukovych, Klyuyev

European sanctions against former Ukrainian president, Viktor Yanukovych, his son Oleksandr Yanukovych, Andriy Klyuyev and Serhiy Klyuyev will not be lifted, Ukrainian Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko said on Ukrainian TV Channel 5, RBC-Ukraine reported.

”Sanctions against Yanukovych, his son and the Klyuyev brothers will not be lifted, as the decision of the European Commission adopted in 2016 is still valid,” the minister stated.

He explained that the decisions made in 2014 had been appealed, but every year, the European Commission adopts individual decisions.

”Therefore, whatever the decision of the European Court, it does not affect the lifting of sanctions against those individuals,” Petrenko remarked.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on September 15, the General Court of the European Union (EU) will announce its decision on the complaint of the former Ukrainian president, his son Oleksandr and the former head of the presidential administration of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev on the application of EU sanctions against them.
