Japan will help Ukraine restore damaged energy facilities

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori on October 17, 2022. They discussed systematic attacks carried out by Russian troops on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities and the consequences of their destruction.

They also discussed areas of cooperation for assistance in providing Ukraine with energy carriers during the heating season.

“Special attention was paid at the meeting to the readiness of the Japanese side to help with the restoration of critical infrastructure objects of Ukraine damaged or destroyed by the Russian Federation, in particular, by providing the necessary equipment and facilities.”

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko also informed the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine about the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is of great importance for the energy security of Ukraine and is occupied by Russian troops. He emphasized de-occupation, demilitarization and transfer the ZNPP to the full control of legitimate Ukrainian authorities.
