The funds are part of a $5.5 billion commitment Japan made in February to help rebuild damaged infrastructure and support the people of Ukraine.

“Japan continues to stand by Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. We have been working closely with the World Bank in providing support for Ukraine. We are grateful to the World Bank Group for its efforts to channel and safeguard donors’ fund and expand donors’ base. We expect our contributions to be efficiently and effectively used to meet Ukraine’s most urgent needs such as repairing critical infrastructure. We look forward to further deepening our cooperation with the World Bank Group,” informed the Deputy Vice Minister for International Affairs of the Ministry of Finance of Japan Kentaro Ogata.

It is clarified that this grant contribution more than doubles the funds of the URTF. Now the total amount of grant resources for urgent works to repair energy infrastructure, roads, bridges, housing, schools and hospitals in Ukraine is more than 850 million dollars.

Uaposition memo: URTF is a multilateral donor fund that was established in December 2022. It supports the World Bank’s emergency operations in Ukraine in key sectors, including transport, health care and energy.
