This decision was announced by the British government on August 19, World Humanitarian Day.

It is noted that up to 200,000 Ukrainian refugees in Poland and internally displaced persons in Ukraine will be able to receive support – these are children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

“International aid organization Mercy Corps will work with grassroots civil society groups to provide emergency assistance to cover basic needs, including food, water and sanitation, psychological support and childcare services.”

The UK has also allocated an additional £14 million to countries in East Africa, where more than 48 million people are at risk of food insecurity.

In July, the United Kingdom provided 2.5 million pounds (almost $3 million) to help the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine investigate war crimes committed in Ukraine during the Russian invasion, including crimes of sexual violence.
