Government permits electricity imports from Russia

In order to avoid power outages to consumers the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has agreed with a proposal by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry to permit temporary imports of electricity from Russia.
This is stated in a respective government resolution, the ministry’s press service reported.
“Temporary imports of electricity from neighboring countries will be conducted by the Ukrinterenergo state enterprise. It is envisaged that the price should not exceed the average tariff for the previous month for the energy generating companies of thermal power plants, as defined by the National Commission for State Regulation in the Energy and Utilities Sector,” reads the statement.
