Goods exports from Ukraine 31.9% down in Jan – Trade Ministry

Exports of goods from Ukraine in January 2016 fell by 31.9% year-over-year, to $2 billion, according to the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry.
Sunflower oil was the leader among the commodities shipped for export, the ministry wrote on Facebook.
Other staples of Ukrainian exports were commodities of the food industry, metallurgy, and machine-building industry.
The ministry says that resumption of production in Luhansk region is a positive trend, and exports from that region in January was 25% up year-over-year, to $28.1 million.
The European Union remains a key trade partner of Ukraine. It accounts for almost half of the exports. The share of the CIS is 12% of Ukrainian exports.
As UaPosition reported earlier, a deficit in foreign trade in goods in January 2016 was estimated at $295 million, which was 7.6 times higher year-over-year.
