General Staff reveals structure of Russian-occupation forces in Donbas

A total of 6,000 Russian servicemen and 35,000 militants controlled by the Russian Armed Forces are fighting in Donbas as of August 2016, according to data of the General Staff, which has been published by Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister on European and Euroatlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze on Facebook.

An infographics was also published, which disclosed the structure of Russian-occupation forces in Donbas.

Apart from a few tens of thousands of militants (local collaborators and mostly  mercenaries from the Russian Federation), the subdivisions from the regular units of the Russian Armed Forces are located in Donbas.

These are Russian military personnel with their weapons and equipment, who come into the territory of Ukraine from all over Russia.

”The Russian military arrives in Donbas alternately, on a rotational basis, in small groups from among their brigades and divisions,” the report says.

”They mainly occupy positions in the second and third line of defense and in the rear of the enemy command, mostly, and work with sophisticated military equipment and weapons and act as defensive squads,” the report adds.

The infographics points out that the military from the 6th Tank Brigade (Mulino, Nizhny Novgorod region), 138th Motorized Infantry Brigade (Kamenka, Leningrad region), 32nd Motorized Infantry Brigade (Shilovo, Novosibirsk region), 74th Motorized Infantry Brigade (Yurga, Kemerovo region), 33rd Motorized Infantry Brigade (Maikop, Adygea), 20th Motorized Infantry Brigade (Volgograd), 17th Motorized Infantry Brigade (Shali, Chechnya), 18th Motorized Infantry Brigade (Khankala, Chechnya), 331st Airborne Regiment (Kostroma), as well as the 7th Air Assault Division (Novorossiysk, Krasnodar Krai) are present in the east of Ukraine.
