France recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed on Twitter on March 28, 2023, that the French Parliament recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people.

“French Parliament’s recognition of the Holodomor of 1932-33 as genocide of Ukrainian people is important & significant. Grateful for France’s strong contribution to exposing totalitarian Russia’s past & present crimes, establishing truth, justice, & hence accountability. Thank you France,” tweeted Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada(Ukrainian Parliament) Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to the French parliamentarians for this decision.

“This is extremely important. This is historical justice. Proof that even after 90 years, the world is not silent, recognizing a crime as a crime. And such tragedies, and atrocities against humanity, against peoples must never be repeated,” wrote Ruslan Stefanchuk.

As of 2023, more than 20 countries of the world have officially recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. In particular, on March 10, 2023, Belgium recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as the genocide of the Ukrainian people. On March 23, the Parliament of Iceland recognized the Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
