European Commission transferred €66M to Ukraine for the reconstruction of destroyed schools

Katarina Mathernova, Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission noted on December 23, 2022, on Twitter that the European Commission transferred 66 million euros to the budget of Ukraine for the reconstruction and restoration of school facilities which were damaged during Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine.

“European Commission has disbursed €66 million to Ukrainian budget for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of schooling facilities that have been damaged in the course of the Russian brutal war against Ukraine,” wrote Katarina Mathernova.

As reported, on December 16, 2022, the European Commission and the government of Ukraine signed a support package in the amount of 100 million euros for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of school facilities that suffered as a result of the Russian war.

The package provides 34 million euros for small and medium repairs, in particular the repair of windows, roofs, doors, sanitary-technical and heating facilities, as well as the provision of equipment for training rooms and bomb shelters.

According to the plan, 66 million euros are provided directly to the Ukrainian government as budget support.
