EU Commissioner for humanitarian aid goes to Ukraine

European Commissioner for humanitarian aid and crisis response Christos Stylianides will visit Ukraine next week to discuss the increase in humanitarian aid to the population affected by the Russian aggression.
The visit has been scheduled after the recent decision of the European Union to increase humanitarian aid to Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports from Brussels.
“The European Union prepares the next steps to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by the conflict in Ukraine, especially to displaced persons and to those, who need help in extreme cold conditions,” the European Commission press office says.
January 26-27, Stylianides will visit Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk, where he will discuss urgent measures with the Ukrainian leadership, meet with victims of the crisis in the east of the country and express EU solidarity with these people.
In general, the EU member states and the European Commission have allocated about EUR 76 million for humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation measures in Ukraine.
