EU already preparing EUR 500 mln for Ukraine – Yeliseyev

Ukraine’s representative to the EU Kostiantyn Yeliseyev has noted a positive reaction from the EU regarding the results of early elections for the Verkhovna Rada, which confirms further practical steps by the European Commission in the allocation of financial assistance to the state, Ukraine’s Mission to the EU has told a Ukrinform correspondent.
“I have just had a meeting with the leadership of the finance unit of the European Commission, at which the EU confirmed its readiness to speed up the allocation of EUR 760 million to Ukraine as part of the two existing macro-financial assistance programs. In addition to the EUR 260 million already allocated, Ukraine could receive EUR 500 million more in November, if it fulfills the agreed conditions on time. The rapid formation of a parliamentary majority and a new government will help us do it,” he said.
Yeliseyev said that the first reaction in European circles to the parliamentary elections in Ukraine was only positive.
He said that the European Commission had already begun technical work to prepare the third package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
