Draft resolution on release of Nadiya Savchneko introduced in U.S. Congress

Five members of the U.S. House of Representatives, all members of the Congressional Ukrainian Caucus, have introduced a bipartisan resolution calling on the release of Nadiya Savchenko.
This has been announced by one of the authors of the document, Congressman Sander Levin, on his official webpage, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We continue to call on Russian authorities to immediately release Nadiya Savchenko from custody. We are gravely concerned by reports of her ill health since the commencement of a hunger strike on December 14, 2014, now into its seventh week,” U.S. congressman noted.
He also expressed concern over Savchenko’s lack of adequate medical attention. “We demand that Russia abide by its international obligations and the rule of law, and we join the United States Department of State in calling for Nadiya Savchenko’s immediate release,” Levin said.
Draft resolution H.Res.50 is entitled “Calling for the release of Ukrainian fighter pilot Hope Savchenko, who was captured by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine and has being held illegally in a Russian prison since July 2014”. The authors of the document are congressmen Sander Levin, Marcy Kaptur, Michael Fitzpatrick, Mike Quigley and Bill Pascrell.
