Draft laws on elections will pass first reading tomorrow

Leader of the Batkivshchyna faction Serhiy Sobolev says that the MPs want to consider the election law as the first issue.
He told a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada today, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“The MPs want to consider the election law as the first issue, and then – the antiterrorist operation, and the anticorruption package,” the MP said.
According to Sobolev, at the Conciliation Council it was decided to put to vote as the first issue the draft law on elections on the proportional basis with opened lists.
If it fails to have the necessary number of votes, the draft law by Ruslan Kniazevych will be put to vote, which is based on the previous election system.
In case that this draft law is turned down, preservation of the mixed system with amendments will be considered – reduction of the election campaign term, reduction of funding and return of the blocs.
