Cyberpolice busts one of Ukraine`s largest ”online movie theaters”

The Ukrainian cyberpolice have closed up one of the country`s major pirate websites, according to the National Police press service.

The law enforcers seized the company`s servers.

According to media reports, this site in question is Fs.to, which ceased its operations overnight Tuesday.

The police say that the illegal ”online theater” FS.to inflicted several millions hryvnias in damage to copyright holders.

”The website`s audience has reached millions of users. Criminal proceedings have been launched into the fact of infringement of copyright and related rights,” reads the statement.

Law enforcers have already seized equipment used for setting up the company`s technical infrastructure. Authorized searches were conducted in the offices, data centers, and places residence of defendants in criminal proceedings. Additional evidence of illegal activity of web resources has been collected.

”We have separately identified foreign (in particular, ”offshore”) companies and a number of Ukrainian firms. Through their accounts, funds derived from illegal activities of the criminal group`s resources was being legalized,” reads the statement.
