Coking coal supplies to Ukrainian coke plants increased by 18% in 2016

Supplies of coking coals to Ukrainian coke plants in January-August increased by 18% year-over-year (y-o-y), to 11.9 million tonnes, according to Metalurgprom industrial association.

Supplies of domestic coal in the reporting period amounted to 4.1 million tonnes, an increase of 8%, while supplies of imported coal stood at 7.8 million tonnes, which is higher by 24% y-o-y.

Imported coal accounted for 66% of total supplies (as compared to 62% in the same period last year).

Total coke supplies to Ukraine`s metallurgical enterprises in the reporting period increased by 14% compared with January-August 2015, to 8 million tonnes. Volumes of Ukrainian coke increased by 20%, to 7.3 million tonnes, while those of imported coke decreased by 24%, to 740,000 tonnes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, supplies of coking coals to Ukrainian coke plants decreased by 15% compared to 2014, to 15.9 million tonnes. Total coke supplies to metallurgical enterprises fell by 11% to 11 million tonnes.
