China`s COFCO commissions grain port terminal in Mykolaiv

The COFCO Agri Ukraine company, a subsidiary of Chinese state-owned food giant COFCO Corporation engaged in agricultural trading and processing, has commissioned a new grain terminal worth $75 million in the seaport of Mykolaiv, the company`s press service reported.
”The Chinese government has invested $75 million in the implementation of the project. The construction lasted 20 months, from August 2014 to April 2016. The new terminal has become China`s major investment in the development of Ukraine`s logistic capacity,” a statement reads.
The complex is built on the basis of port`s berths No. 1 and No. 2. The new terminal has a total capacity of 2 million tonnes per year. It is also equipped with two 120,000-tonne and four 1,500-tonne silos. The terminal will be serviced by 150 employees.
The terminal also has stations for unloading vehicles (two lines) and rail transport (two lines for eight railway cars), allowing to handle up to 10,000 tonnes of products per day. The terminal incorporates a grain dryer and grain cleaning machine with a capacity of 50 tonnes per hour, a shiploader with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes per hour and upload speed of up to 20,000 tonnes per day, as well as a grain quality control laboratory.

The company owns manufacturing facilities in 29 countries around the world and its products are represented in 140 countries. Its annual sales are estimated at 150 million tonnes.
In December 2015, the company completed the acquisition of Noble Agri Ltd.
