Cabinet seeks getting up to UAH 250 mln from reorganization, privatization of State Land Bank of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine expects that the planned for 2016 restructuring or privatizing of the State Land Bank of Ukraine will bring the country`s budget UAH 200-250 million, according to the Government`s plan of priority steps for 2016.
According to the document, the relevant legislative initiative should be drafted by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food by late June this year.
UNIAN memo. The Cabinet of Ministers established the State Land Bank in 2012 for operations with land and property rights to land. All 100% shares of the bank are owned by the government through the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
The State Land Bank launched operations in October 2013, but due to the shortage of budget allocations, the inventory of agricultural lands and their correct assessment had not been carried out, and therefore the bank operations were blocked.
In February 2016, the Cabinet approved a strategy for the development of state banks, under which non-systemic banks, including the State Land Bank, will see the state withdraw from their capital through privatization or liquidation until the end of 2017.
