Brexit officially launched as EU`s Tusk gets PM May`s letter

The United Kingdom has formally informed the European Union of its intention to withdraw, thus launching the Brexit process.

A corresponding letter from British Prime Minister Theresa May, triggering Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty, was delivered to Donald Tusk, the European Council President Donald Tusk, according to BBC News.

This way, the UK formally begins a two-year process of leaving the EU.

Theresa May has until late March 2019 to settle all conditions of her country`s withdrawal from the European Union.

Following financial and migration crises which the European Union seems to have tackled, Brexit is the most significant blow to the organization over its 60-year history.
