Bohatyriova declared wanted, her property arrested

The Prosecutor General’s Office announced a search for former Vice Prime Minister – Minister of Health Raisa Bohatyriova and arrested her property.

October 21, 2014, she was declared wanted by a decision of an inspector of the Prosecutor General’s Office, and on October 23, the court granted permission to detain the person concerned and to deliver her to the court for consideration of choosing the measures of restraint in the form of detention. On the same day, the court ordered the seizure of property of the former Minister and her husband, namely, three apartments in Kyiv, apartments in Yalta and three houses in the village of Pidhirtsi, Obukhiv district, Kyiv region,” a statement reads.
The Prosecutor General’s Office informed that during a pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings on the fact of embezzlement and taking possession of the state budget in a large scale, Health Ministry officials have established that Bohatyriova misappropriated more than USD 6 million. At the same time, she acted intentionally, in collusion with a group of people.
A message of suspicion was issued to former Health Minister of having committed an offense under Part. 5, Article 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement or taking possession of property by malpractice) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the PGO is taking measures regarding the prosecution of Boharyriova’s accomplices.
