The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrskyi noted on November 16, 2022, that law enforcement officers of Ukraine have already discovered the bodies of 63 people tortured by Russian troops in the territory of the Kherson region (south of Ukraine) liberated from the Russian army. In addition, 11 places of deprivation of liberty were found in the liberated Kherson region, where Russian soldiers illegally detained residents of Ukraine, including civilians.

“We already understand that torture was used in four places. Investigators are now inspecting these places and recording every fact of such torture. They are finding witnesses, those who survived these tortures,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Denys Monastyrskyi noted that law enforcement officers have already initiated 436 proceedings regarding war crimes committed by Russians in the Kherson region.

“But we have to understand that the search has only just begun. We understand that the months of stay of Russian troops did not pass by populated areas, by peaceful citizens. And therefore we predict that many more places of torture and burials of victims of such crimes will be found,” concluded the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
