Australia to give Ukrainian Armed Forces $2 mln – Abbott

Australia will allocate $2 million in financial assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said this at a working meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the presidential press office reported.
“Tony Abbott announced the decision to provide over $2 million in assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. During the meeting the sides discussed Australia’s possible participation in a donor conference [for Ukraine] to be held in early 2015,” reads the statement.
The prime minister reiterated the Australian government’s intention to continue to actively support Ukraine.
Abbott said that in the last few months Australia had provided moral support and economic aid to Ukraine.
Poroshenko thanked the country’s leadership for actively supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
“I thank you for unity and solidarity with Ukraine,” the president said.
