All nuclear plants and the majority of TPPs were de-energized in Ukraine due to Russian attack

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine noted that Russia once again carried out a massive shelling of the Ukrainian energy infrastructure on November 23, 2022. The Russian missile attack led to the temporary blackout of all nuclear power plants, most thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine.

“Thus, on the day when the European Parliament recognized it as a state sponsor of terrorism [November 23, 2022 – ed.], the Russian Federation proved the undeniable truth of this definition. Only terrorists do this to people they cannot defeat, so they try to simply destroy them,” noted the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.

The Russian missile attack resulted in a temporary blackout of all nuclear power plants, most thermal and hydroelectric plants of Ukraine. Power transmission facilities are also damaged.

As a result, the vast majority of electricity consumers across the country were cut off. Emergency shutdowns occur. The lack of electricity can affect the availability of heat and water supply.

Power engineers are already working and doing everything possible to restore the power supply as soon as possible. But given the extent of the damage, they will need time.
