About 9 million people in Ukraine are without electricity due to Russian shelling

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted on December 26, 2022, during his evening address, that about 9 million people are disconnected from electricity supply due to Russian missile attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in various regions of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the workers of all energy companies, all repair crews of Ukraine for the fact that on Saturday and Sunday, on Christmas Eve and Christmas, they managed to give people more electricity.

“Of course, eleсtricity deficits persist. Disconnections still continue. As of this evening, about 9 million people are disconnected in various regions of Ukraine, but the number and duration of disconnections are still gradually decreasing,” explained the President of Ukraine.

The head of state also informed that he held a special meeting with government officials regarding the situation on energy and infrastructure in Ukraine.

“We are preparing for next year. And not only for the winter months. There are threats that must be eliminated. There are steps that must be taken. And Ukraine will definitely take them,” the President added.
