European Broadcasting Union confirms: Eurovision-2017 to be held in Kyiv

During a meeting of the General Assembly of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Lausanne, Switzerland Dec. 8 it was finally confirmed that the international song contest in the spring of 2017 will be hosted by Kyiv, ”UA: Pershiy” reported.

This decision was made taking into account the report of the executive producers of the Eurovision-2017 Oleksandr Kharebin and Viktoria Romanova on the state of preparations for the competition. Therefore, in the future there can be no speculation regarding the host city of Eurovision-2017.

During the EBA GA, the Ukrainian delegation presented an ESC2017 team and reported on the work done in preparation for the contest, also announcing the budget of UAH 655.7 million.

Of this sum, UAH 455.7 million is laid out in a draft state budget of Ukraine, while another UAH 200 million will be allocated by the host city, Kyiv.

Executive producers of Eurovision-2017 reported on the readiness of the legal framework for the organization and holding of the song contest in Ukraine.

In the near future, a creative concept of Eurovision-2017 will be publicly presented – that is, the slogan and logo of the song contest. Ukraine`s best 11 creative agencies have offered their ideas for decoration of the show.

The selection of the official ticketing and tour operators for Eurovision-2017 is now underway. The creative concept of the stage and the main arena of the song contest have already been approved. In late December – early January, ticket prices will be announced.

The selection of volunteers for Eurovision-2017 and a tour desk will start shortly. A social program of getting foreign guests acquainted with the Ukrainian capital has been developed.

In the near future there will also be announced the ESC2017 opening venue, the location of the red carpet, the Euroclub, and the Euro Town.
