155 cases of sexual violence committed by Russian troops were recorded in Ukraine

The Head of the specialized department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, Iryna Didenko noted on January 20, 2023, that law enforcement officers have already recorded 155 cases of sexual violence committed by Russian military, most of them in the liberated territories of the Kherson and Kyiv regions.

“The Kherson and Kyiv regions are leading in terms of the number of victims’ testimonies. In total, prosecutors and investigators recorded 155 cases of conflict-related sexual violence,” informed the Head of the specialized department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

At the same time, the head of the specialized department of the Prosecutor General’s Office noted that the total number of cases of sexual violence committed by Russian military in Ukraine is much higher.

“These numbers reflect only the number of facts when victims are ready to testify now,” explained Iryna Didenko.

The Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine plans to transfer properly recorded crimes of Russian soldiers to international courts, in particular to the International Criminal Court.
