Operational report August 12, 2022 by the General Staff of AFU on the Russian invasion of Ukraine

The valiant Ukrainian people’s resistance to a Russian military invasion is still going strong on day 170.

In the directions of Volyn and Polissia, there have been no notable changes to the situation. The system of combat control and notification of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus was examined to see if it was ready for use on August 11 of this year, according to the information that is currently accessible.

In order to limit the operations of Ukrainian Defense Forces units, the Russian army is still holding forces in the border regions of the Bryansk and Kursk regions in the Ukrainian Siversky direction. Oleksandrivka in Chernihiv Oblast and Yurievo, Bilopyllia, Atynske, and Yastrubyne in Sumy Oblast were both shelled by the Russian artillery.

Units of the Russian federation’s armed forces that work in the Kursk and Belgorod border regions are still rotating there.

The Russian occupiers fired from tanks, barrel artillery, and jet artillery in the direction of Kharkiv in the vicinity of the towns of Udy, Odnorobivka, Prudianka, Slatyne, Dementiyivka, Nove, Pytomnyk, Ruska Lozova, Ruski and Cherkaski Tyshky, Tsyrkuny, Cherniak, Petrivka, Shestakove, Stary Saltiv and others.

Russian soldiers conducted airstrikes at Verkhniy Saltiv, Rtyshchivka, Ukrayinka, and Bairak using attack and army aircraft.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions close to Velyka Komyshuvakha, Dmytrivka, Dibrivne, Virnopillia, Ridne, Protopopivka, Mazanivka, Bohorodychne, Nortsivka, Krasnopillia, and Dolyna came under fire from the Russian invaders in the direction of Sloviansk. Airstrikes were conducted nearby Zalyman.

Russian troops attempted to engage in offensive combat in the direction of Tychotske-Dolyna and Pasika-Bohorodychne but failed.

Shelling was seen close to Siversk, Zvanivka, Verkhnokamyanske, Hryhorivka, and Raihorodok in the Kramatorsk direction.

Russia’s effort to conduct combat reconnaissance at Biloghrivka and Hryhorivka was unsuccessful.

The Russian occupying forces attacked the Ukrainian settlements of Bakhmut, Soledar, Ivano-Daryivka, Vyimka, Spirne, Yakovlivka, Kodema, Vershyna, Zaitseve, and Vasyukivka in the direction of Bakhmut using tanks and different caliber artillery. Near Vyimka, Ivano-Daryivka, Spirne, Yakovlivka, Soledar, and Bakhmutske, Russian airstrikes were detected.

Near Spirne, the Russian invaders attempted to undertake reconnaissance. Soldiers from Ukraine destroyed the enemy with fire while also neutralizing it.

The Russian occupants attempted to breach Ukrainian defences with offensive and attack activities in order to push into the communities of Spirne, Ivano-Daryivka, Vyimka, Yakovlivka, Kodema, Vershyna, and Zaitseve.

The Russian army is attempting to establish a foothold in the Pokrovske-Bakhmut direction after having some success there.

Near Mariyinka, Vodiane, Netailove, Avdiyivka, Pisky, Krasnohorivka, and Novobakhmutivka, Russian artillery firing persisted. In the vicinity of Krasnohorivka, Maryinka, Vodyanyi, and Avdiyivka, Russian troops conducted airstrikes.

In the Spartak, Pisky, and Maryinka regions, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed every enemy assault attempt and drove the Russian invaders back to their starting points.

Near Novomykhailivka, Shevchenko, Novoyakovlivka, Velyka Novosilka, Volodymyrivka, Vugledar, Novopil, Preobrazhenka, Vremivka, Novosilka, Zelene Pole, Novodanilivka, Kamianske, Novoandriivka, Hulyaipole, and Bilohirya on the Novopavlivske and Zaporizhia terriories. Near Novomykhailivka and Vuhledar, Russian aircraft was active.

The Russian occupants were moving toward Yehorivka and Pavlivka. The adversary is halted and forced back.

The Russian invaders used tanks, barrel and rocket artillery along the contact line to fire at the positions of Ukrainian troops in the South Buh direction. Osokorivka, Andriyivka, Blahodatne, Novohryhorivka, Lozove, Myrne, Bruskynske, and Veliky Artakov were all the targets of Russian airstrikes.

The Russian Federation is making an effort to provide the units that were damaged during hostilities in the designated direction the capacity to fight again.

In the Black and Azov Seas, 2 Russian sea-based cruise missile carriers are prepared for attack.

It is reported, that Russian occupying forces are losing more and more personnel. In this sense, the invaders’ command is increasing the practice of delaying the rotational periods of advanced units for an indeterminate amount of time without providing them with more people. All of this has a negative impact on the moral and psychological well-being of Russian service members and “volunteers,” which lowers their desire to take part in hostilities.
