Vladimir Putin is rewriting the history of World War II in ways that harm Russia and the international community. Some of these historical violations are old, some are new, and some are a bit of both. As such, Putin’s use and abuse of the history of World War II merit the most careful attention. As a contribution to the more immediate challenge of considering what Putin’s aims are with regard to World War II, I would like to point to ten of the lies, misrepresentations and falsifications he is now offering.
