Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has condemned the killing of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, who was killed in Moscow Friday after urging people to protest against Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the war in Ukraine.
Poroshenko on Saturday called Nemtsov a “bridge” between Ukraine and Russia.
Just hours before he was gunned down, Nemtsov appeared on Russia’s Ekho Moskvy radio urging Moscow residents to come out for Sunday’s opposition rally against Putin.
France’s President Francois Hollande also expressed anger at the killing of Nemtsov. He called the shooting a “hateful murder” and described Nemtsov as a “defender of democracy.”
