The peace talks in Minsk has begun

On February 11 has started the meeting between President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and French President Francois Hollande in Minsk, Belarus.

As the Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus Myhaylo Ezhel stated after the peace talks must be signed the official document:

“According to the results of negotiations today, the parties intend to sign a final document. Currently, work is ongoing contact group. Party in the “Norman format” and negotiate “- said Ezhel.

The Trilateral Contact Group in Minsk to resolve the situation in Ukraine has resumed its work in Minsk complex “Dipservis Hall” and the Palace of Independence held talks the leaders of Russia, Germany, Ukraine and France “Norman format.”

Meeting in “Norman” format between leaders Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia Poroshenko, Francois Hollande, Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin started without formal ceremonies in a tet-a-tet format and lasted almost two hours.

Earlier President of Ukraine stated that the main topic of meeting is to settle the peace in Eastern Ukraine:

“I can assure you that Ukraine and the European Union will speak with one voice at the Minsk summit,”

“The key point – we define and insist on: we need an unconditional ceasefire, without any preconditions,” the president said.

“Ukraine is striving for peace,”

“We want peace, we want to live in Ukraine, we want the [territorial] integrity of Ukraine, we want to restore order, we want to stop the aggression, [and] we want the invading troops to leave the territory of Ukraine,” Poroshenko said.
