Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko says the government forces have been withdrawn from Debaltseve town.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said the Ukrainian armed forces together with the National Guard completed an operation for a planned and organized withdrawal from Debaltseve.
The government forces and the Pro-Russian rebels have been fighting in the town for weeks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said a ceasefire agreed between the separatists and the government troops in eastern Ukraine are almost entirely in place with the exception of the town of Debaltseve.
