NATO chief says measures, part of alliance’s response to Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea were defensive.


NATO Defence Ministers met at Brussels on Thursday to discuss the implementation of the Readiness Action Plan and Ukraine crisis.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said the measures, part of the alliance’s response to Russia’s annexation of Ukraine’s Crimea were defensive.
The ministers’ meeting comes at a time of high tension between the West and Russia over fighting in Ukraine.
US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel said NATO member countries are considering deployment of quick response force in Eastern Europe.
He said security situation in Afghanistan is improving.
