American actress Brie Larson won an Oscar this year for her starring role in Room, the movie based on Emma Donoghue’s dark, brilliant novel of the same name. Larson portrayed a young woman who is kidnapped, repeatedly raped by a psychopath and gives birth to a boy in the small room that serves as her prison.
