Trudeau promises debate on peacekeeping mission, stops short on vote


OTTAWA — Justin Trudeau says MPs will get a chance to debate the Liberal government’s plan to send Canadian troops on UN peacekeeping missions, but he won’t quite promise a vote on any future deployment.
The prime minister tells The Canadian Press it’s important that Canadians understand why the government is signing onto a specific mission, and what it hopes to accomplish by putting troops in harm’s way.
