Zaitseve and Avdiyivka remain `hot spots` in ATO zone – Lysenko

The most tense situation, as before, remains in Ukrainian settlements of Zaitseve and Avdiyivka in Donetsk region, presidential administration spokesman for the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Colonel Andriy Lysenko said at a briefing today.
”As before, Zaitseve and Avdiyivka have remained `hot spots` [in the ATO zone]. Moreover, the enemy has stepped up its activity slightly to the south (near Pisky and Nevelske). The situation is tense also in other sectors along the front line. According to our data, 90 mortar attacks were launched at our positions yesterday,” Lysenko said.

The combined Russian-separatist forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in the Donetsk sector 46 times in the past 24 hours, he added.

Maryinka, in the Mariupol sector, became the epicenter of hostilities yesterday. Militants had repeatedly opened sniper fire, and also applied RPGs and small arms. In addition, they shelled two times from the anti-tank guided missile system in Novotroitske. In the area near Lebedynske enemy`s drone was spotted, according to the report. In the Mariupol direction, militants launched attacks at Ukrainian forces 11 times in the past 24 hours.
In the Luhansk direction, the Russia-backed mercenaries broke the ceasefire eight times in the area near Popasna. Provocations occurred throughout the day, but mostly in the daytime. The illegal armed groups opened fire from villages adjacent to the militant-occupied town of Pervomaisk.
