Yevhen Marchuk to coordinate security cooperation with EU and NATO

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yevhen Marchuk will coordinate cooperation with NATO and the EU on security issues.
Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) Valentyn Nalyvaichenko said this at a briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“An international secretariat on security and civil cooperation between Ukraine and NATO and between Ukraine and the EU is beginning work in Ukraine. The person who will head it and coordinate its activity is Yevhen Marchuk,” Nalyvaichenko said.
He said that the task of the organization would be the resumption of cooperation with international institutions on security sector reform and civilian control over the activity of intelligence services and other security agencies in Ukraine.
Army General Yevhen Marchuk earlier served as Ukraine’s prime minister, defense minister and SBU chief during the presidency of Leonid Kuchma.
