”Yefremov`s case”: Former ex-Regions Party faction MP Medianyk can be released – Ukrainian Prosecutor General

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko does not exclude that former Party of Regions MP Volodymyr Medianyk accused of aiding terrorists will soon be released due to lack of sufficient evidence against him.

”As for Mr. Medianyk. If there is no sufficient evidence, he will not be prosecuted. It is my deep belief that that the prosecutor`s office can and should release people if there is insufficient evidence. I`m sure that Mr. Medianyk will soon be released from custody because we have not gathered enough evidence of his guilt, and it is absolutely normal in a civilized country,” Lutsenko told journalists in Kyiv on Saturday, a UNIAN correspondent reported.

On August 7, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko announced the arrest of Medianyk.

”As part of Yefremov`s case, the PGO detained another person involved – MP from the Party of Regions Volodymyr Medianyk,” he stated.
