Yefremov opened door to war in Ukraine: Lutsenko

Former Regions Party faction head Oleksandr Yefremov opened the door to the war in Ukraine, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said at a briefing in Kyiv on Wednesday, according to a UNIAN correspondent.

”As Prosecutor General, I have no right to make statements about suspects or accused. I can just say that I do not have a positive attitude to this or that person. Yefremov is probably the first and the only one person, in all my time working, towards whom I have a negative attitude,” Lutsenko said.

”According to the evidence, this man opened the door to the war in our country; I am convinced of this. It is evidence that was given to the investigation team by different people. Our suspicion is based on this evidence. The indictment will be based on this, as well any new evidence we hope to find,” he noted.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Yefremov was detained at Boryspil Airport on July 30 while attempting to leave for Vienna, Austria, according to the Prosecutor General`s Office.

Lutsenko said Yefremov is suspected of committing deliberate actions to redraw the borders of Ukraine, involvement in the creation of the ”LPR” terrorist organization and misappropriation of property from the Luhanskvuhillia coal company.

On August 1, Kyiv`s Pechersky district court decided that Oleksandr Yefremov should be held on remand for two months.
