Yatseniuk: Ukraine’s foreign debt has not increased this year

The Ukrainian government has managed to keep foreign debt at a sustainable level of $72 billion.
Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this during the ceremony of signing credit agreements with the European Investment Bank in Kyiv on Monday.
“The government has managed to retain the amount of Ukraine’s external debt to foreign creditors at $72 billion this year … We have not increased our foreign debt by a single dollar,” Yatseniuk said.
However, he stressed that under the previous government Ukraine’s external debt had doubled during four years.
“That is, in fact, they borrowed $40 billion, which we are thinking how to return and service now,” the prime minister said.
He suggested that by the end of the year the situation may slightly change. “But we still keep a balance with all possible means that are in our hands,” he said.
