Yatseniuk: Global food security depends on Ukraine

Global food security depends on Ukraine, and the country will become a world leader in the agriculture market.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk told this to reporters on Friday while visiting JV Nibulon in the village of Zhovtneve in Poltava region, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“Global food security depends on Ukraine – we are a key player. The government’s plans to ensure that Ukraine and other countries (the United States, Canada, and a number of EU countries) took the lead in the food market will be realized,” Yatseniuk said.
He noted that food production was one of the main levers and engines of economic development. “Russia refused from Ukrainian products – and let God help them. We found other markets, and we found an opportunity to sell Ukrainian products to the European Union and other countries,” he said.
Yatseniuk said that in six months Ukrainian agricultural exports grew by 32%, while imports of foreign food to Ukraine shrank by 18%.
