Yatseniuk explains why Ukraine needs military aid

Ukraine needs more financial aid from the West, and “arms supplies have central value for Kyiv.”
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this in an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel.
When asked by a journalist to comment on the statement that NATO clearly said that there will be no military solution to the conflict in Donbas, the head of the Ukrainian government replied that Ukraine needs weapons “to avoid further Russian aggression.”
He also denied that Kyiv had allegedly abandoned Donbas by suspending the payment of pensions and public sector wages in the region.
“We still provide the region with gas and electricity. It costs us $200 million a month. And those who will register can get their money in other regions [of Ukraine],” the prime minister said.
