Former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych`s lawyers claim that their client cannot be extradited to Ukraine, as there are no Interpol Red Notices for him, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
”Regarding the official extradition procedure… As of today, there is no official procedural possibility of, let`s say, the extradition of Yanukovych to Ukraine as Interpol has deleted the Red Notices and stopped the search,” lawyer Vitaliy Serdyuk, who protects Yanukovych`s interests, told at a press conference in Kyiv.
The lawyer stresses that Yanukovych is no longer wanted by Interpol, as there are circumstances that indicate that Yanukovych is a victim of political persecution in Ukraine. ”That is contrary to the provisions of that organization,” Serdyuk said.
