Volume of securities trading on Ukrainian exchanges down by 35% since start of year

The total volume of securities trading on the Ukrainian stock exchanges in January-July 2016 decreased by 35.1% to UAH 130 billion, from UAH 200.4 billion in the same period of 2015, the Securities and Stock Market State Commission (SSMSC) reported.

The volume of trade in government bonds amounted to UAH 111.7 billion, accounting for 85.9% of the total amount of contracts concluded on stock exchanges in January-July this year. The volume of debt instruments traded fell by 40% year-on-year (y-o-y).

The volume of trade in equities in the reporting period amounted to UAH 1.12 billion, down by 3.8 times compared with the previous year.

The amount of the contracts under corporate bonds related transactions in the period under review decreased by 30.6% y-o-y to UAH 4.39 billion. In January-July, the SSMSC registered the issue of securities to the tune of UAH 57.33 billion, higher by 30.5% than the same period in 2015.

The volume of registered issue of shares in January-July increased by 32.1% y-o-y to UAH 42.8 billion.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in 2015, the total volume of securities trading on the Ukrainian stock exchanges fell by 53.1% to UAH 290.8 billion from UAH 619.7 billion in 2014.
