Verkhovna Rada to approve sanctions against Russia, but with amendments – Karasiov

The Verkhovna Rada may approve sanctions against Russian companies and natural persons, responsible for occupation of Crimea and the war in Donbas. However, the MPs will make their amendments to the draft law.
Politologist Vadym Karasiov expressed this opinion to a Ukrinform correspondent today.
“The parliamentary week will be difficult, since it is necessary to adopt the government sanctions against the Russian Federation. In some provisions, this document needs additional finalization. Everything must be calculated, because we may loose more than receive. However, it is possible to predict that the MPs will make respective amendments and will adopt the law this week,” Karasiov said.
At the same time, he admitted that the deputies will have a discussion on “a ban of transit of energy resources by the Ukrainian GTS and the closure of the transit flight zone.
Answering a question on approval of amendments to the election law, Karasiov noted that the MPs will hardly approve amendments this week.
“Today, the politicians have doubts on expediency of holding the elections in difficult economic and geopolitical conditions. In addition, for many political players it is not completely clear what should be a new election law, there is no consensus between the factions. Therefore, it is unlikely that we will get amendments to the election law this week,” the analyst says.
