US planes intercept six Russian fighter jets near Alaska – media

U.S. planes on Thursday intercepted six Russian fighter jets that were flying near Alaska, the Ukrainska Pravda online newspaper has reported, citing foreign media.
“According to CNN correspondent Jim Sciutto, U.S. officials link this to the visit of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to the United States,” reads the statement.
As reported, Russian planes have recently violated the air space of several countries, including Sweden. In addition, two Typhoon fighter jets of the British Royal Air Force were scrambled from the Lossiemouth military base (Scotland) to intercept two Russian Tu-95 bombers.
