United States may provide weapons to Ukraine in coming weeks – Senator

U.S. Senator and Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee James Inhofe has said he is convinced that the United States will provide defensive weapons to Ukraine in the near future.
He said this at a briefing at the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center in Kyiv on Tuesday, the Ukrainska Pravda online newspaper reported.
This question is to be considered at a Senate session that begins on November 12, he said. The senator said that President Barack Obama could provide these weapons earlier by issuing a respective order. If the president does not do that by that time, the committee will do its best to make it happen, he said.
Inhofe added that this process could take from four or five days to two-and-a-half weeks.
He said that he had received a list of weapons from the Secretary of Defense that are to be sent to Ukraine, but declined to name their contents to reporters.
